2011-2021
I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since I launched my hyperhidrosis blog! July 6, 2011 was my very first blog post. Wow, what a ride.
I’ve been affectionately referred to as “the OG” of hyperhidrosis advocacy, a title I’m proud to hold and never thought it would be something I’d do.
Wondering how I got started? You can read about my life-changing experience and aha moment here.
For those of you who might not know many things about me, I thought I’d re-introduce myself before my favorite month of the year starts tomorrow. November is Hyperhidrosis Awareness Month, and the type A, Enneagram 1 in me is panicking because I don’t have all of my content prepared yet. I did just have a baby, so I’m trying to give myself a little grace.
My name is Maria, and I’m the creator of mylifeasapuddle.com. I’ve been blogging about hyperhidrosis (uncontrollable excessive sweating) since 2011 after an incredibly validating experience with the International Hyperhidrosis Society.
My blog is my side hustle, but I hope to make it more of a regular thing now that I quit my full-time job to stay at home with my son. Everything you see here and on my social media channels is original content that I’ve created unless otherwise cited. This website, graphics, etc. are paid for out of my own pocket and have been since I started my hyperhidrosis patient leader journey. Want to sponsor my blog? Contact me and give me your pitch.
I put myself through college while working full-time as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). I then held various marketing and communications roles in health care and nonprofit organizations to pay off my never-ending student loan debt, which I still have. I also have a crap ton (pun intended) of medical bills due to ulcerative colitis, an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
All this is to say is that my first love – nee, my purpose in the world – is to be an advocate for those who suffer from hyperhidrosis. I never thought sweat would be my jam, but here we are, and I know I’m living on purpose with a purpose.
I also love reading, handwriting letters to my pen pals, playing with my Pug Hazel, hanging out with my husband, hiking, and tree hugging (trees are a metaphor for life). When I’m not blogging, you can find me curled up on the couch with a book in one hand and a mug of tea in the other. I can’t wait for all the sweaty talk I have planned this month, so drop me a comment and let me know what questions you might have as we go into Hyperhidrosis Awareness Month. Or, tell me more about yourself by leaving a comment below. I’d love to hear from you!
