Hyperhidrosis Clinical Trial now enrolling

New Clinical Research Study Enrolling

Update: As of 1.1.19, this hyperhidrosis clinical trial has been filled.

Good news, my sweaty peeps! If you suffer from axillary hyperhidrosis (extreme sweating in your armpits), a new clinical research study is looking for YOU.

A nationwide research study is now recruiting participants to test a topical (applied on the skin) underarm gel designed to reduce sweating. For once, you can openly talk about your sweaty pits! It might even help you release some of that pent up shame or anxiety that many people who have hyperhidrosis might feel. Sounds freeing, doesn’t it?

Are you eligible?

In order to prequalify for the study, you must:

  • be 12 years of age or older
  • be male or female and not pregnant or breastfeeding, and
  • have axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating in your underarms)

If you’re someone who changes your shirt multiple times per day, feels that your sweating negatively impacts your life, or you shower more than once daily, you could have axillary hyperhidrosis.

What is this clinical research study?

This study, referred to as the Argyle Study (as in an argyle sweater – get it?) is occurring in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the study drug to reduce the main symptom of hyperhidrosis – excessive sweating.

If you qualify, you will receive the study drug (or a placebo) at no cost to you, study-related services from a licensed dermatologist, and compensation for time and travel.

Why should you participate in the Argyle Study?

Qualified participants get paid. That’s right. You get moolah just for sweating! And, you’re helping to pave the way for more people like you to one day have access to another treatment option. Really, it’s a win-win situation no matter how you look at it.

By choosing to participate in a clinical research trial, you are:

  • advancing clinical research and development,
  • fast-tracking solutions to reach people in a timely manner,
  • offering hope to others who suffer from hyperhidrosis to one day have access to more treatments for excessive sweating, and
  • using your patient voice to be your own best health advocate.

Clinical trials provide a chance to speak out about the importance of better research and treatment. Sometimes all I want to do is bury my head in the sand and pretend I don’t have hyperhidrosis. But that would probably cause me to sweat more, and then the sand would stick all over me. I digress.
