Remember when I told you about celebrity Elena Levon and how she linked to my blog and said I inspired her? Well, she emailed me the other day with the subject line “This is for you darling!” What I opened from my inbox was a lovely, inspiring surprise. Elena has made a video of herself salsa dancing, and she has dedicated it to those who have hyperhidrosis! People like us often are told that we can’t spread our wings and fly. Are you one of those sweaty people who have chosen to fly anyway?
I am excited and appreciative of this video for so many reasons:
- the use of one of my favorite Maya Angelou quotes, “You can be changed by your circumstances, but certainly not reduced by them.” (I’ve used this quote on my blog before, and it’s on my Facebook page.)
- Elena’s courage to simply dance in front of a mirror by herself, video it, and then actually post it online
- The beautiful sequence toward the end where she actually touches the mirror while dancing; if I were to do that, the mirror would be wet and steamy from my hot hand prints!
- Her use of the bird/wing metaphor, which is front and center in my own life right now. I will be telling you more about that later, and hopefully in a big way. š
So please, do yourself a favor and watch Elena’s hyperhidrosis dance video. I hope it makes you as happy as it made me.
